Favorite subject

My favorite subject is discourse and meaning. In the class of discourse and meaning, the words, their meanings and the reason for these are treated. The class was about the teacher talking for centuries about the historical meaning of words, how they have been used to move masses or oppress. They also talked about political and social discourses and how to analyze or disarm them.

Sometimes we did works like debating on subjects with which we were not at all in agreement, work on the history of art and its impact on people, others were about strange texts that only the teacher and others knew.

The main contents were about language, its structures, its meaning according to institutions that imposed ideas, the power of discourse in societies, power relations through language, history of capitalism, art history, dystopias, etc.

I liked this class a lot because I've always liked the language, its forms of use and what they really mean. Also because I really like politics and the teacher focused many classes on that, on how people resignify words to serve them, in addition to explaining the weight they had. I also liked how the teacher did the classes and he’s cool.
